Tomayko Foundation Mission and History: Established in 2015 by Jack Tomayko, the Tomayko Foundation’s mission is to foster individual creativity through higher education and the arts in Western Pennsylvania. The Foundation engages in three core programs: grantmaking to artists and scholars, the presentation of regional artists in its galleries located at its facility on Liberty Avenue, and the preservation of the Frank Mason Art Estate. Each year the Foundation grants $100,000 to individuals achieving excellence in the fields of visual and performing arts and software engineering, and to organizations who promote the work of individual artists.
About the Internship Program: Interns are a vital part of the Foundation’s activities. In order to foster creativity through learning and the arts, the Tomayko Foundation employs an intern each season to assist in all aspects of programming. Interns will gain hands-on knowledge of how to operate a foundation and exhibition space. Interns will report to the Director and are expected to be in person and on site during the course of the internship. Interns are required to be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Pittsburgh in the fields of Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Communications and Marketing, or a related field.

Internship Date and Time Commitment: The schedule of each internship is crafted to fit the academic schedule. Interns are expected to be in person and on site during the Foundation’s regular open hours from Monday - Friday 11 am to 4 pm.
